His forename is spelled wrongly on the Memorial Born in Stansted in March 1891 {Bishops Stortford 3a:513] to Alfred and Evangeline HARRIS (née YEADON), Railway Station House, Stansted, Essex, where his father was Station Master. 1891 census...Daryl [1 month] was at The Station House, Water Lane, Stansted with his father Alfred [33], station master, born Whittlesea; his mother Evangeline [29] born Colchester and his brothers Alfred G [9] born Thetford; Bertram L [5] born Stansted and Clive G [3] born Stansted. 1901 census...Daryl [9] was still at Stansted with his parents; brothers Bert and Clive(both railway clerks) and now a siser Gladys E [5] born Audley End and Aunts Sarah YEADON and Harriet ?. He married Dorothea Jannie BROCKWELL in Q4-1908 in Sudbury. 1911 census...Daryl was a railway clerk, living at 17 Ditton Walk, Cambridge with his wife and their son Cyril Leslie[2] and brother Clive was a lodger. His wife Dorothea died in 1912. He enlisted in Newmarket, and his will gave his residence as Newmarket (likely that his father was station master here), hence his name on the memorial. The pension card gives as guardian, Mrs Julia Brockwell. Old Manor House, Cavendish. She would appear to be his mother in law and guardian of his son |
